The modified tailgate is a good example for the effectiveness of local reinforcements. Local reinforcements with TAFNEX™ CF-PP UD can reduce the displacement by 15% and increase the stiffness of the demonstrator without changing the production process.
An additional simulation study confirmed the first results:
- By only 1x layer UD-Tape (18g) the stiffness increased by 12-24%.
- With 5x layers of UD-Tape rib structure on the demonstrator were not necessary any more.
