What is TAFNEX™?
TAFNEX™ CF-PP is a unidirectional tape (UD tape) that consists of carbon fiber (CF) and polypropylene (PP), achieved by a unique bonding technology of Mitsui Chemicals. Using this material as reinforcement can reduce part weight while retaining strength and other properties. The polypropylene matrix offers excellent processability, low moisture absorption and short processing times. TAFNEX™ can be used for a wide range of applications from the automotive to the sports industry.

The high mechanical properties of this combination is a result of the highly bonded interface between CF and PP
Mitsui Chemicals developed in cooperation with a fiber manufacturer a special bonding technology for the CF as well as a new recipe for PP to achieve the fully impregnated PP-CF UD tape material TAFNEX™.
